Orthodontics
Do you hide your smile?
Problems, such as crooked teeth, twisted teeth and gaps between the teeth as well as poor alignment and crowding, are common. An attractive smile can make you feel happier and more confident as well as make the right impression. Orthodontic treatment is the dental term given to this and a service we provide at Charnwood Dental Centre.
Types of braces
Thanks to modern technology we can create beautiful straight smiles in a short period of time, with no pain or stress, to help you look and feel your best. Dental braces have come a long way since they were invented in the 1800’s. Today, some of the most common braces are: –
These are traditional braces most often seen on children and teenagers. Metal braces are the most affordable and use a system of brackets and wires to move the teeth over time.
This modern orthodontic treatment is highly popular among teenagers and adults who want to straighten their smiles discreetly. Invisalign is a system of customised plastic trays that are worn day and night, except when you are eating, brushing and flossing. The invisible trays are changed every couple of weeks until a desirable result is achieved. Shown on the left of the image.
These braces work like traditional metal braces, except that the brackets bonded to the teeth are made of ceramic. You can hardly see them as they are ‘tooth coloured’.
